On the occasion of the broadcast of “An Indian in the City” last night on TF1, a little focus was placed on what happened to Ludwig Briand, the translator of Mimi-Siku, now 39 years old.
An Indian in the City (broadcast last night on TF1) was released in 1994 and was a box office hit, reaching almost eight million viewers. Several factors contributed to this success, including the theme of culture shock and the charming cast. Thierry Lhermitte, Patrick Timsit and Arielle Dombasle played the main characters. They were accompanied by little Ludwig Briand who played Mimi-Siku. The actor, who was 13 at the time, was a standout figure in the big screen film.
After the unexpected success of this generation of films, Ludwig Briand continued his appearances on the small screen for some time, notably in the soap opera La Caverne de la rose d'or, with Alessandra Martines. He also played an important character in the series One and one make six, with Pierre Arditi and Brigitte Fossey. The actor also gave his voice to several children's stories and performed in an amateur theater troupe (“Sunday actor who only plays on Thursdays”).
When it came time to graduate from college, Ludwig Briand put the brakes on his career to devote himself to his studies. Now 39, the former actor has a head on his shoulders and a degree in his pocket. He has done it all: law, real estate salesman, cigar expert at the Paris airport, street vendor and even amateur poker champion of Ile-de-France. While careful not to regret too much his experience in the spotlight, he still has fond memories of it.
Ludwig Briand currently works as a clerk at the Ministry of Justice. Every time An Indian in the City is broadcast, he pockets 50 euros!
