Task can confirm the news on Friday night. The case of Rajvinder Kaur and her husband, Randhir Singh, has been the subject of much discussion in recent days due to their impending deportation to India.
Arriving in Canada in 2015, the couple fled a dangerous situation in their home country: Singh was reportedly beaten by local police after offering lodging to two men who were militants for the separatist movement Khalistan and who were wanted by the authorities. , which he did not know. He is now suffering from post-traumatic shock.
Both couples’ asylum applications, which were formulated in 2015, and their applications for permanent residency, which were submitted in 2021, were rejected. Another application for permanent residency is still pending, but does not protect them from deportation, which was supposed to take place on August 12. On Monday, dozens of people gathered outside the constituent offices of new Immigration Minister Marc Miller to support the couple’s desire to stay in the country.
In a press conference Friday morning, Mr. Miller said he had “full sympathy” for the people who supported the couple’s request and were “working[er] more than that”.
