E-commerce firm Amazon said it has launched Amazon Live in India. It is a unique live shopping program where customers can interact directly with content creators who can showcase products, answer customer questions in real-time, conduct surveys and offer limited-time offers. With Amazon Live, Amazon India will run 15 daily live streams from 10am to 1am. Over 150 content creators will be streaming live during the ongoing Amazon Great Indian Festival.
“Through Amazon Live, Amazon India aims to connect influencers with customers at scale so they can make informed purchases,” said Kishore Thota, Director, Customer Experience & Marketing, Amazon India.
The company has made an effort to remove barriers to online shopping by offering purchases in local languages. Now tens of millions of customers are shopping on Amazon India in Indian languages. More than 70 percent of customers who shop on Amazon in regional languages are from Tier 2 cities and below. For example, 20 percent of shoppers from states like Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Haryana who shop on Amazon.in prefer the Hindi shopping experience.
Additionally, over 2 million customers have gone to the nearest Amazon Easy Store and availed assisted shopping on Amazon.in. That includes over 1 million new Amazon customers in 2022 from across the country.
“Our goal with Amazon Easy’s regional language shopping experience and assisted shopping service is to make e-commerce accessible, relevant, and convenient for customers,” said Thota. “Today, over 90 percent of our customers and more than 86 percent of our new customers are from Tier 2, 3 cities and communities.
