On the video side, Amazon continues to develop new tools. The e-commerce giant, which has been enabling its Premium subscribers to benefit from a wide catalog of series and films, recently launched MiniTV in India. According to TechCrunch, Jeff Bezos’ company is now offering users in the country the benefit of a wide selection of video content directly from its shopping app. Funded by advertising, the new offering plans to provide a variety of entertainment such as funny video, technology product tests, shows related to beauty, food and fashion. In its press release, the company explained:
“Viewers will be informed about the latest trending products by technology experts Trakin Tech, fashion and beauty experts like Sejal Kumar, Malvika Sitlani, Jovita George, Prerna Chhabra and ShivShakti. Foodies can enjoy content from Kabita’s Kitchen, Cook with Nisha, and Gobble.”
The company stipulates that if this video is not new, “MiniTV will add even more exclusive shows” over the next few months.
Highlight your products
If the company has no real intention of competing with YouTube, it hopes this offering will allow it to highlight the many products available on its e-commerce site. Like teleshopping, this new tab will function as a showcase for the place of business. For now, the offer is for Indian users. The company did not say whether MiniTV intends to be exported internationally in the coming months. Of course they need to first test the impact of this new service in India, before launching it in our green lands.
