The Indian Football Federation (AIFF) has asked FIFA to lift the suspension imposed on him after the term of the court-appointed committee to regulate sport in the country ends this week.
India’s top court dissolved the Indian Football Federation in May and appointed a three-member committee to run operations, amend the body’s constitution and organize elections that have been delayed for 18 months.
Football’s governing body FIFA banned the AIFF this month, citing “undue influence by third parties”, and said the suspension would be lifted as soon as the national body regained full control.
On Monday, India’s Supreme Court ruled that the commission’s mandate was “ended” and that the day-to-day management of all football affairs would be returned to the AIFF.

FIFA has not officially responded to the AIFF letter.
According to FIFA statutes, member federations must be free from legal and political interference in their respective countries. FIFA has suspended other national associations in similar cases.
India was due to host the Under-17 Women’s World Cup on October 11-30 but its right to host was threatened due to FIFA’s suspension.
AIFF elections are currently scheduled for early next month.
