Given the growing tensions between the two countries, the All India Tennis Association has sought advice from the Sports Ministry regarding the Davis Cup visit to Pakistan.
The Indian Tennis Association (AITA) on Tuesday sought instructions from the Sports Ministry regarding the national team's trip to Pakistan for the Davis Cup World Group 1 play-offs to be held in Islamabad in February this year next. AITA's decision follows the rejection of AITA's request by the International Tennis Federation court to have the match moved to a neutral venue.

The matches are scheduled for February 3 and 4 at the Pakistan Sports Complex. AITA general secretary Anil Dhupar had earlier told PTI that the association would seek advice from the Sports Ministry on Monday regarding sending the team.
“We have sought advice from the Sports Ministry regarding Pakistan travel policy. It's the Tennis World Cup. We are waiting for the answer” AITA general secretary Anil Dhupar told PTI.

The history of the India-Pakistan Davis Cup encounter dates back to 2019, when the match was initially scheduled to be played abroad. However, AITA managed to move its site to Kazakhstan, citing political tensions between the two countries.
The last time these two teams faced each other in India was in 2006 when we visited Mumbai. Before this, the Indian Davis Cup team had visited Pakistan in 1964. During this visit, players like Akhtar Ali, Premjit Lall and SP Misra made their contributions. . after the visitors won 4-0 in Lahore.
As AITA navigates the complexities surrounding Davis Cup match venues and the historical context of India-Pakistan sporting events, the advice of the Sports Ministry will be essential in determining the course of action for future events.
