Passengers on a wayward Air India flight landed in San Francisco on Thursday afternoon – nearly 56 hours after departing from Delhi. The original Boeing 777 flight, carrying 216 passengers and 16 crew, had landed abruptly at Siberia’s Magadan Airport on Tuesday after experiencing a “technical problem with one of its engines.” The Indian airline said on Thursday it would issue a full refund to the plane’s passengers.

A flight failure in one of the Boeing 777-200LR’s aircraft engines had prompted AI 173 to land in the port city of Magadan in Russia’s Far East. Finally, on Wednesday, the air carrier sent a ferry flight from Mumbai to Magadan. The stranded passengers and crew were flown to San Francisco on Thursday after the replacement plane took off from Magadan at 10:27 a.m. (local time) on June 8.
