Badminton News: Indonesian men’s doubles duo ranked 3rd in the world, Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan have successfully entered the last four of the Singapore Open World Tour Super 500 badminton tournament thanks to their victory over the representative of India, MR Arjun/ Dhruv Kapila.
Occupying the second seed, Ahsan/Hendra had to fight to a draw when they overcame Arjun/Kapila 10-21, 21-17 and 21-18, in a match which took place at Singapore Indoor Stadium Friday (7/15) local time.
Ahsan/Hendra started the game badly. Even at the start of the match, they immediately led 1-5 before the Indian pair closed their lead at the break with a 4-point difference.
After the break, Ahsan/Hendra tried to reduce but Arjun/Kalila’s advantage could not be overcome. The Indian pair could lead 17-8 over Ahsan/Hendra before finally winning the opener with a pretty crushing scoreline.
Not wanting to lose like that, Ahsan/Hendra got up in the second match. However, the game was not easy as the Indian pair also tried to stick to the points achieved so there was a number hunt where the point difference was very tight no more than two points until the interval is 11-10 for Ahsan/Hendra.
After passing the interval phase, the two pairs would take turns winning. But in the end, the Indonesian pair who won the game points first then forced the tiebreak.
In game three, Ahsan/Hendra immediately took control of the game. Even though the position at the interval was very tight, only one point difference, but The Daddies slowly got back to their best game to widen the points distance until they managed to secure matcha points in the decisive match, as well as securing a ticket to the top four at the Singapore Open 2022.
