'It's too hard to dump Krishna after just one match': Former Indian star on IND vs SA
Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, Manjrekar analyzed India's bowling options – particularly Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur – after the defeat. The former cricketer argued that he had Mukesh Kumar in his cricket playing XI instead of Krishna due to the lateral movement made by the former cricketer. Manjrekar then pointed out that Prasidh did not hit the deck hard and used his height.
“Putting Prasidh Krishna back after this will be a bit difficult. If you look at him, he's not someone who hits hard. He kind of uses his size. The only ball that has speed and power is the short ball.Manjrekar said.
Prasidh Krishna made his debut in the first IND vs SA Test at Centurion. He managed to take just one wicket in 20 overs, conceding 93 runs during his spell.
Why is Shardul Thakur in the XI?
The former cricketer highlighted that Shardul Thakur's inclusion in the XI is part of India's strategy to provide depth in the batting. Noting that India have always been “a little cautious” in their batting, Manjrekar felt that Thakur is playing simply because he can bat and bat well in overseas conditions.
