A steep road awaits Indonesia in the 2023 Asian Cup

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Indonesia certainly did not welcome Asian Cup 2023 after the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) prefers Qatar as the organizer of the championship to replace China, which is withdrawing.

The announcement of the 2023 Asian Cup host was made by the AFC in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Monday (10/17). Were present at the announcement the representatives of PSSI, Mochamad Iriawan (president), Iwan Budianto (deputy) and Yunus Nusi (secretary general).

With Indonesia not chosen to host the 2023 Asian Cup, the Red and White troops must prepare as a steep road awaits the Garuda national team.

The AFC have chosen Qatar as the host of the 2023 Asian Cup by defeating South Korea and Indonesia. The experience of holding the 2022 World Cup is enough provision for Qatar as the host of the highest tournament among Asian countries.

Indonesia, which had participated in the host competition, had to accept the fact that other countries were deemed more worthy. After all, Indonesia has also been busy with the 2023 U-20 World Cup, which should coincide if the Asian Cup also takes place on Earth.

The concentration of Indonesia will not be divided as the host country. But for the Indonesian national team, there must of course be a division of objectives in the preparation of these two big agendas full of prestige.

The Asian Cup 2023 must be seen as a big event by the coach of the Indonesian national team, Shin Tae Yong. Because it will be the first appearance of the Garuda Squad after 15 years of absence.

The winding road was passed by Marc Klok and his friends during the qualifying round. Passing as one of the top runners up indicates that Indonesia is on an uneven road.

Indonesia also carries the status of participating in the Asian Cup 2023 with the lowest FIFA ranking (152). Thinking about this, the red and white representatives will occupy a place in pot 4 or the last place in the group stage draw.

In Pot 4, Indonesia is likely to be in the same boat as Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Tajikistan and India. The countries that accompany Indonesia are those that both occupy the FIFA ranking above 100.
