Silicon Valley itself is a center of innovation in the United States (US) which has successfully produced many giant technology companies and now their names are often adopted by various countries around the world to create similar areas including Algorithm Hill in Sukabumi, Indonesia.

According to the Startup Genome ranking in 2018, Bengaluru is among the top 14 global manufacturing and robotics ecosystems, surpassing other metropolises such as Mumbai and New Delhi.

“Bangalore as a place for entrepreneurs, I think it’s very interesting and it’s getting more and more interesting,” said Ben Legg, managing director of Ola UK, a car-sharing platform in Bengaluru.

In 2020, Silicon Valley Asia employed around 4.1 million people across India and accounted for nearly US$137 billion in exports annually.

Legg said Ola, who was born in Mumbai, decided to move his headquarters to Bangalore after realizing the advantages of the city.

“Even though Mumbai is a bigger and richer city, Bangalore needs a lot of engineers. If you want to build amazing products quickly, you need to be somewhere where you won’t be hindered by the lack of technicians,” Leg says. .

After moving to Bangalore, Ola not only expanded its scale and entered international markets including the UK and Australia, but also received $3.8 billion in capital from 21 rounds of Indian investors. and foreigners.

Although Bangalore is now considered the startup capital of India, the city was not considered a business hotbed in the beginning. As a former British colony, India is a center of agriculture and manufacturing due to low land and labor rents.

cited Scalersplanning policies and a massive influx of investment have reshaped cities that were once more popular with retirees and instead created space for unprecedented levels of technological creativity and disruptive innovation.

After the country’s independence in 1947, Bangalore became a hub for public sector industries such as aerospace, telecommunications, heavy equipment, aerospace and defense industries.

This has led to manufacturing giants such as The Hindustan Aeronautics, The National Aerospace Laboratories, Bharat Heavy Electronics, Indian Telephone Industries and Bharat Earth Movers having their headquarters based in Bangalore.
