For the 2023 edition of the Fête de la Musique, the French Embassy in India and the French Institute in India are presenting, from 15 to 26 June, two weeks of concerts and events, workshops and roundtables in collaboration with the Alliances françaises network in several cities. Organized by radio station boxout.fm, the festival explores the diversity of the musical landscape and promotes dialogue between France and India.
Music Festival 2023 in India: mixed and varied program
This program highlights a wide range of music genres, formats and talent, and features concerts, interviews with French and Indian musicians, elaborate playlists, community radio, experiences and much more. The festival is hybrid, combining offline and online components, and includes tours of artists across India:
- there French DJ RONI, which rose to prominence after its debut at the Boiler Room in Paris, presents a captivating mix of jungle, break, techno and club music. RONI kicks off his tour on June 15th in Mumbai!
- CITOPIR (stands for “Condoms Are the Only Plastic I Respect” – condoms are the only plastic I respect) of the pair MC Kaur And Sir Colfer offers shows on the themes of sustainability and inclusion in partnership with the Alliances Françaises network. Manmeet Kaur aka MC Kaur is India’s first ever host and has been performing live for over ten years. Mister Colfer, alias Flavien, is a French multidisciplinary artist (rap, painting, calligraphy, audiovisual, design and animation).
At the same time, the Fête de la Musique was blessedan online portalwhich serves as a platform for playlists and community radio shows, as well as for listing all concerts and live events.

Fête de la Musique was founded in 1982 by the French Minister of Culture, Mr. Jack Lang. Held annually on June 21, the date of the summer solstice, the day celebrates music in all its forms, with musicians of all kinds, amateur or professional, and takes place in France in all kinds of spaces (streets, cafes, concert halls). The main idea is to make music freely accessible to everyone. This day has been adopted by many countries and cities around the world to celebrate the shared love of music.
