This is a new restaurant that opened three weeks ago in La Madeleine. Indian summer offers us a trip to the land of spices, tandoori chicken and cheese naan. Clean establishment, immaculate and smiling welcome, we do not regret our lunch break at this place which wonderfully expresses Indian delicacy.
Discovery or tasting menus
If you’ve come for lunch on a weekday to try L’été Indien, we invite you to try the discovery formula. Two starters, two mains, all you can eat basmati rice and cheese naan for only €14.90! On the other hand, you have to let yourself be guided because you don’t have a choice between good choices. But the proposal changes every day. This afternoon, we attacked with vegetable samosas followed by Malai Tikka, chicken supreme marinated in cream, pistachio and cashews. You don’t have to wait long for your dishes as they are all served at the same time. This is how we were able to quickly enjoy chicken curry and mashed eggplant with tender potatoes. Little treat. Especially when you find out that the chef is from New Delhi…
A beautiful establishment with a great sense of service
Opened recently, the owner is pleased with the crowd that has emerged in his new restaurant in La Madeleine. He is also from India. Arriving in Lille 7 years ago, he spoiled this first place with a desire to showcase Indian gastronomy around home made dishes and service with a smile and care. He spent time at our table, even showing us a video of his recent wedding in India to his French wife.
The establishment is clean, you feel confident. He brought us extra rice servings upon request. Little touches that make a difference. The setting is neat, there are some clichés of Indian culture in the decorations such as elephant statues. A great immersion in India and something that is sure to make you want to come back in the evening to test the tasting formula with three starters, two mains, basmati rice and cheese naan for €21.90.
