Against Indonesia on FIFA Day: Curaçao definitely, India’s candidate

Of the three countries listed as potential adversaries Indonesian national team at the match FIFA match day Next September has been reduced to two.

Three countries that had emerged as potential opponents of the Indonesian national team on FIFA Day were Curacao, India and Hong Kong.

PSSI General President Mochamad Iriawan said Curacao would definitely be an opponent for the Garuda Squad. Meanwhile, the assessment against India and Hong Kong is still ongoing.

“For FIFA Matchday, there are three countries that have become Indonesia’s opponents, namely Curacao, the ranking is good, there are also Hong Kong and India. Later, it will only be limited to to two countries. Now there is still communication and negotiations between the two countries, be it India or Hong Kong,” Iriawan explained in a meeting with reporters via Zoom.

Previously, Iriawan had affirmed his certainty against Curaçao, even though there were obstacles facing the country located in the zone of the Confederation of Central and North America when it comes to vaccinations.

According to the current FIFA rankings, Curaçao occupies the 84th position in the world. While India is ranked 105th and Hong Kong is ranked 145th.

The FIFA Matchday matches are scheduled for September 19-27, 2022. This match is meant to prepare the Indonesian national team for the 2023 Asian Cup.

After confirming the qualification for the 2023 Asian Cup, coach Shin Tae Yong expressed a country with a certain ranking to become the opponent of the Indonesian national team.

Originally, Shin wanted the red and white team to try out teams with ratings of 50-100. Then the Indonesian national team’s focus changed to countries rated 120 and below.
