Bali Very few expected this: Shortly before the start of the G20 summit in Indonesia, the chief negotiators of the European Union and 19 of the top economic powers agreed on a draft joint final declaration. This was confirmed by the President of the Council of the European Union Charles Michel on Tuesday night.
According to the Sherpa draft, as the negotiators also called it, the G20 wanted to condemn the war in Ukraine and warn against the use of nuclear weapons.
It would be a resounding success for the West as well as for Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD). Such an understanding would make it clear that Moscow is increasingly losing support from traditional allies such as China.
