Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – India has banned 54 Chinese apps citing security concerns. According to local newspapers, the decision came in the wake of protracted tensions between the two countries which impacted business transactions.
India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has banned 54 apps, including those belonging to major Chinese tech companies such as Tencent, Alibaba and NetEase, which are new versions of apps banned in 2020. C is the report that was reported by Al Jazeera, Monday (6/14/2022)
A spokesman for India’s Home Ministry has yet to comment on the matter.
The latest decision comes as the long-running dispute between the two countries remains unresolved. Previously, a bloody battle broke out in 2020, which left soldiers on both sides dead. As a result of this incident, stricter laws arose in India for investments from China, including a ban on applications.
India and China share an unmarked 3,488 km border along the Himalayas, where thousands of troops, tanks and artillery guns from both countries have since gathered.
