The board of directors of Tata Medical Center Trust, a subsidiary of Tata Group, has onboarded Noel Tata’s three children – Leah, Neville and Maya – effective November 2 to prepare them for larger roles in the company. The three next generation members of the Tata Group will be trained under the leadership of Ratan Tata. Noel is Ratan Tata’s paternal half-brother and also a shareholder in the Tata Group. Tata Group has confirmed the developments to Fortune India.
Tata Medical Center Trust manages a cancer hospital in Kolkata which was inaugurated by Ratan Tata in May 2011. With the addition of Leah, Neville and Maya, the Tata Medical Center Trust’s board of directors doubled to six board members. Previously, Tata Medical Center Trust board members included Ratan Tata, 84, Vijay Singh, 74, and Mehli Mistry, 62. Apart from the Tata Medical Center Trust, the board members of Dorabji Tata Trust and Ratan Tata Trust are over 60 years old.
Noel, who currently chairs Trent and Tata Investment Corporation as Chairman, was appointed to the Tata Medical Center Trust Board of Directors in 2019. However, in 2022 he was admitted as a trustee of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust. Noel also currently serves as Managing Director of Tata International and Vice President of Titan Company. He is the son of Naval Tata and his second wife Simone Tata, who founded Trent in 2006.
Noel’s three children worked at various Tata Group companies before joining the Board. Unlike the next generation of competitors, their presence in the group has been kept under wraps for a while. According to the publicly available information, 37-year-old Leah, Noel’s eldest daughter, is a graduate of Jai Hind College in Mumbai and IE Business School in Madrid. She is currently working since 2007 as part of the Indian Hotel Company which operates and manages the Tata Hotel Group.
Leah’s sister, Maya, 34, is a graduate of the University of Warwick and Bayes Business School. After a stint at Tata Capital, she currently works at Tata Digital. Neville Tata, 30, is a graduate of Bayes Business School and currently works as part of Trent, leading the operations of fashion retail brand Zudio Stores.
