Prince Albert II, in solidarity with India after the collapse of the Morbi bridge

The provisional toll is 137 dead, including fifty children.

As the Prince spoke this Monday morning condolences to the President of South Korea following a mob that killed more than 150 people in Seoul on October 29The Sovereign has also recently expressed his support for the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Narendra Modi, following the collapse of a bridge in the city of Morbi.

It is with great emotion and sadness that I learned about the tragic collapse of the Morbi bridge, during the celebrations of the Diwali festival, which unfortunately was the cause of many deaths.

In these tragic circumstances, allow me, my family, and the people of Monaco to offer our most heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, and to express our support and sympathies to the injured and those who survived.

I would also like to commend the massive rescue effort by the police, military and emergency response teams.

Allow me to assure you, Prime Minister, of our deep solidarity in these difficult times.

During a religious holiday, Sunday, October 30, the suspension bridge collapsed. For now, the casualty reports 137 people died, including fifty children. According to some media, nine people, linked to a company in charge of bridge maintenance, were arrested for murder.
