3 candidates against the Indonesian national team on FIFA Day: Curaçao, India or Hong Kong

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – PSSI President General Mochamad Iriawan revealed three potential adversaries Indonesian national team on FIFA Day in September. According to him, PSSI contacted three federations to carry out the test match.

Curaçao is an island nation in the Caribbean Sea that is a member of CONCACAF. The Curacao national team is currently ranked 84th in FIFA. Then India is in position 104 and Hong Kong is in position 145 FIFA. “PSSI continues to communicate with all three countries,” Iriawan said.

However, PSSI found obstacles to organize a test match for Curaçao. “For Curaçao, there are obstacles. Because some players and officials have not been vaccinated. In fact, one of the conditions to enter Indonesia is to be vaccinated,” said the former Metro police chief. Jaya.

In addition to later preparing for the 2023 Asian Cup, this friendly match is also used by the Indonesian national team to improve the FIFA ranking. So far, the Indonesian national team is ranked 155. The FIFA Day will be held from September 19 to 27, 2022.

Iriawan assured that the friendly match of the Red and White team will take place in Indonesia. “For sure, the match is in Indonesia and the opponent (country) whose rating is below 100. The FIFA rating against the Indonesian national team is around 80 to 100,” a- he declared.

“That’s what we are asking to measure the capacity of the Indonesian national team. We also found one of these countries. So they have been in contact, we are looking for one more,” Iriawan said. According to him, potential opponents in friendly matches are not too far from Indonesia’s position in the rankings Fifa.
