Bisnis.comPRIYA – A team of students from the University of Indonesia (UI) won first place in two categories of the 2022 Shell Eco-marathon Indonesia competition held at Mandalika International Circuit, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB ).
Shell Eco-Marathon is a student competition to create energy efficient automotive technology. The competition, which will take place from October 11 to 15, 2022, will bring together 47 teams from nine countries, namely Indonesia, India, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, the Philippines, Singapore and the Vietnam.
Meanwhile, two teams from the University of Indonesia, namely Team Arjuna and Team Nakoela, each managed to take first place in a different category.
The Nakoela team won the title of first place in the category best mileage for the group Prototype. Nakoela’s team managed to cover a distance of 905.2 kilometers per liter (km/l), which is equivalent to the distance traveled from Lombok to Semarang in Central Java.
Meanwhile, Team Arjuna won first place in the category urban concept as the best electric battery vehicle. The team succeeded in assembling a vehicle based on electric batteries with a time of 194.2 km/m3.
In addition to the UI, a number of teams from various universities in Indonesia have won the championship title. They include Gadjah Mada University, Brawijaya University and Yogyakarta State University.
In the group prototype, UGM’s Semar Proto team won the electric battery category. In addition, the Apatte Elang Perkasa Team 2 from the University of Brawijaya emerged as the best in the hydrogen fuel cell category.
For group UrbanConceptthe best mileage record for the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) category is 544.2 km/l, achieved by Garuda UNY Eco Team from Yogyakarta State University, Indonesia.
Outraged on trackthe competition also takes place in class off road which received awards in five categories, including Travel Safety, Vehicle Design for Prototype and UrbanConcept, Technical Innovation, Safety and the Spirit of the Event category award. The winners were teams from Singapore, the Philippines, India and Indonesia.
Meanwhile, the 2022 Shell Eco-marathon Indonesia not only provides students with an opportunity to showcase their talents in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). This competition also challenges students to design and develop ultra energy-efficient vehicles to realize the mobility of a smarter and more sustainable future.
“These students have worked tirelessly to develop sustainable and cleaner energy solutions to meet the energy challenges we face today,” Shell Eco-marathon Global Managing Director Norman Koch said on Saturday (15/10/2022 ).
