Samsung, Google and Apple present 5G connectivity software for users in India

TRIBUNNEWS.COM, NEW DELHI – A number of mobile phone manufacturers such as Samsung, Google and Apple have announced the launch of software or software that can support 5G service connectivity for the Indian community.

Ahead of the official rollout of telecom operators Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio’s 5G network to 12 Indian cities next month, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi reports that there are still many smartphone OEMs in his country who cannot support loads out-of-the-box networks.

So that the phone cannot be connected to the 5G network proposed by the Indian government, fearing that this problem will hinder the progress of his country, the Indian president appealed to smartphone manufacturers to launch software that can take support the launch of 5G networks in India on October 1st.

“India is concerned that the software model of mobile phones is not ready for the broadband services which have just been launched, therefore a number of mobile phone manufacturers are urged to launch software capable of taking support 5G services,” Modi explained.

The launch of 5G services in India aims to enable the nation of Bollywood to bring high-speed internet to consumers, thereby supporting increased benefits in the agriculture and healthcare sectors.

The reason for this is that the Indian government is seeking to accelerate the presence of this service.

“5G is knocking at the door of a new era in this country. It’s the beginning of an endless sky of opportunity,” Modi said.

Responding to demands from the Indian government, Samsung, which is the country’s second-largest smartphone vendor, has revealed that the company is currently working on providing OTA updates to enable local airwave support on all phones. 5G.

It is estimated that this service will be operational from mid-November 2022.

Prior to this insistence, since 2009, Samsung has been known to actively develop 5G technology services, and this tech giant has even become a pioneer in standardizing 5G technology globally.

Similar to Samsung, Cupertino-based Apple has confirmed that it will enable 5G networks on compatible iPhones starting in December 2022.

“We are working with our carrier partners in India to bring the best 5G experience to iPhone users through a software update and will begin rolling out to iPhone users in December,” Apple said in a blog post.

Not to be outdone by others, Google has also promised software updates for its devices.

While he didn’t provide a specific timeline for the launch of this software, some of Google’s new devices are said to come with 5G capabilities.

“Pixel 7, 7 Pro and Pixel 6a are 5G compatible devices. We are actively working with Indian carriers to enable early features,” a Google spokesperson said at the launch of Pixel 6a devices in India in July.

Although the launch of the new 5G network may be carried out simultaneously in October, according to data compiled by analyst firm Counterpoint, India’s 5G smartphone install base in July reached 50 million users.

Smartphone makers aren’t the only ones needing to improve their services, citing Techcrunch.

The Indian government is also calling on giant VR headset makers from Chinese manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Realme and OnePlus to support Indian 5G services.
