In an attention-grabbing video on Reddit, the man is interviewed with the help of an interpreter, holding his arm up the whole time of course. During the conversation, he explained specifically that he raised his hand for God to notice. Callers, unsurprisingly, have been intrigued by the practicality of raising your hand for ten years. But the man actually seemed very relaxed, stating that “sleep is ok” and that he “don’t notice it anymore” because of his arm now “not sensitive”.

When asked how long he would continue, the translator replied: “He hasn’t decided anything yet, but he can stay like this for the rest of his life. He hasn’t decided, he doesn’t think about the future, he just lives in the present.” The man uses his other arm to perform his daily tasks and nevertheless admits he has no strength in his arm which remains vertical. Inevitably, this incredibly impressive staying power is surprising and internet users from all over the world are left speechless.

If you find this hard to believe, know that a man named Amar Bharati has been holding his hand up for over 45 years and is not planning to take it down any time soon. Also, it’s best if he doesn’t try because if he tries to lower his arm, it could cause permanent nerve damage and loss of circulation.

A man has kept his arm in the air for 45 years

It all started while working at a bank in India, this husband and father of three suddenly chose a radical lifestyle change by devoting his entire life to Shiva, the Hindu god. To truly serve his religious beliefs, he had an idea: he would raise his hand and never lower it. “I am not asking for much. Why are we fighting amongst ourselves, why is there so much hatred and enmity between us? I want all Indians to live in peace. I want the whole world to live in peace” did he state.
