Condemns OIC statement regarding Jammu and Kashmir, India: smacks of fanaticism

In a statement issued on the occasion of the third anniversary of the withdrawal of special autonomy from Jammu and Kashmir, the OIC called for the need for respect for the freedoms and human rights of the Kashmiri people.

The OIC also urges the return of all “illegal and unilateral actions” taken on August 5, 2019 or later.

In response to this, a spokesperson for the Indian Foreign Ministry issued a statement.

“The statement released today by the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Jammu and Kashmir reeks of bigotry,” Bagchi said. PTITuesday (9/8).

Bagchi stressed that Jammu and Kashmir is an indivisible region and remains an integral part of India.

Even after the repeal of Article 370 which abolished the special autonomy of Jammu and Kashmir, the socio-economic growth of the region accelerated.

“However, the OIC General Secretariat continues to issue statements regarding Jammu and Kashmir at the behest of a serial human rights violator and a well-known promoter of cross-border, regional and internationally,” Bagchi explained.

Kashmir has been a contentious issue for India and Pakistan. After the abolition of Article 370, Pakistan made a series of efforts to internationalize the Kashmir issue.
