Bisnis.comJAKARTA – WhatsApp, a social media platform, is reportedly introducing a new feature that can hide users’ online status.
reported from pledges, On Tuesday (5/7/2022), this news first came from the WABetaInfo Twitter account, which has a good track record of predicting upcoming WhatsApp features.
In a tweet, WABetaInfo said the platform is working on a feature that will allow WhatsApp users to control who can see their online status.
Engadget assesses that this feature will complement the latest adjustments introduced by WhatsApp last April related to Last Seen.
This feature was launched in April 2022, where so far the Mark Zuckerberg-owned company is still releasing an update that adds the My Contact Except setting.
Quote from the page The Indian ExpressIf this feature can be implemented, WhatsApp users can set visible online status to “everyone” unless they are blocked.
Then there is the “same as last seen” option which will show the “online” indicator only for those who have permission to see the user’s last seen indicator.
A report from India Express also mentions that the feature is currently in development on iOS. But eventually it will also come to Android and desktop users.
Previously, users could only choose three privacy options in the WhatsApp app, namely Everyone, My Contacts, and Nobody. However, there is now a fourth option namely “My contacts except”.
