In one of the largest charitable donations by an Indian business family, Gautam Adani and his family have pledged to donate Rs 60,000 crore to be used for healthcare, education and skills development, his logistics-to-energy conglomerate said in a statement. The donation is managed by the Adani Foundation.
“Realizing the potential of India’s demographic advantage requires an increasing focus on healthcare, education and skills development,” the statement said.
“The Adani Foundation has accumulated extensive experience working with communities focused on integrated development efforts across all of these areas…tackling these challenges can greatly enhance the competency and competitiveness of our future workforce,” she added.

This commitment adds Adani to the list of Indian companies making large charitable donations. According to the EdelGive Hurun Philanthropists of the Century 2021, Jamsetji Tata – with an estimated current donation value of $102.4 billion – is the top philanthropist of the last century. Other Indian companies making big donations include Wipro Founding Chairman Azim Premji’s foundation, which had donated $22 billion by 2021.
