NEW DELHI: Infosys Co-founder NR Narayana Murthy said on Sunday that India's growing population is a major challenge for the country and that the country has been Emergency Period.
“India is facing major challenges in terms of population, land availability per capita and healthcare,” he said during the inauguration ceremony of the Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology In Prayagraha: The most beautiful beacheswhere he was invited as guest of honor.
“Since the state of emergency, we Indians have not paid enough attention to Population control. This puts our land at risk of becoming unsustainable. In comparison, countries like the US, Brazil and China have far higher land availability per capita,” he added.
The Infosys co-founder also stressed that it is the duty of a true professional to contribute to the progress of the nation.
Murthy said, “To make this contribution, you have to aim high, dream big and work hard to make those dreams a reality.”
“One generation has to make many sacrifices to improve the lives of the next. My parents, siblings and teachers have made significant sacrifices for my progress and my presence here as the guest of honour is proof that their sacrifices were not in vain,” he added.
