NIRF 2024 Ranking: The Ministry of Education on Monday released the India Rankings Report 2024. This year, in the architecture and planning category, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee tops the list, followed by IIT-Kharagpur, National Institute of Technology Calicut and Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology Shibpur in second, third and fourth places.
Minister of Trade Union Education Dharmendra Pradhan announced that starting this year, the ranking will include three more additions: qualified universities, open universities and public universities.
Here is a list of the top 10 colleges in the architecture and urban planning category:
1. Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee
2. Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur
3. National Institute of Technology Calicut
4. Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur
5. School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi
6. University Center for Environmental Planning and Technology
7. Jamia Millia Islamia
8. National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli
9. National Institute of Technology Rourkela
10. Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology Nagpur
Since 2021, the first position has been held by the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, though it is ranked second in the field of architecture and planning in the Indian rankings of 2018-2020.
National Institute of Technology Calicut scored 78.18 points and stood second from 2021 to 2023, while it was ranked third in the NIRF category in 2019 and 2020. This year, the institute has seen a decline compared to the previous two years and is now at the third position.
Last year, IIT-Kharagpur was ranked third with a score of 78.18, but this year its ranking has improved and is at the second position. IIT Kharagpur has ranked third in the NIRF rankings from 2021 to 2023, while it was at the first position from 2018 to 2020.
National Institution Since Technology Tiruchirappalli in NIRF 2023 secured fourth position with a score of 65.42, but this year the institute dropped four points and reached eighth position.
The School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi ranked fifth in 2023 with a score of 65.14 last year and has maintained its score this year as well.
