Indian, Pakistani boxers want to meet Amir Khan

Sports League – Boxing News: British Pakistani boxer Amir Khan wants to bring together legendary boxers from India and Pakistan to fight in a boxing ring through the sport of mixed martial arts (MMA). Will the plan to bring together Indian and Pakistani boxers succeed?

“I am waiting for the day when the two countries, India and Pakistan, will fight each other on their own soil. It will be a fair fight that people want to see and will entertain them,” Khan said via video conference at an event to promote MMA.

Khan, who became Britain's youngest boxing champion at the age of 22, is now chairman of the Super Fight League (SFL), a league that promotes MMA in India. Khan hit the headlines last month when he expressed his desire to represent Pakistan at the 2016 Rio Olympics. He is now considering bringing Indian and Pakistani boxers together in the same ring.

He wants to own the country where he was born. Although he expressed his desire to represent Pakistan at the Rio Olympics, he added that he would not betray the English coach who made him a name.

Following most professional boxers turning to MMA, Khan has also expressed his desire to compete in MMA for a year or more. Khan will come to India to fight as a boxer against Indian legend Vijender Singh.

The match between the two Indian and Pakistani boxers will take place at the Thyagaraj Stadium on July 16. Khan expressed his support and admiration for the Indian Olympic medallist.

“My support has always been there for Vijender and I will always be there for him. Vijender has made a big name for himself and I want to bring MMA to India to create more fighters like Vijender,” Amir said via video conference at an event in New Delhi.
