The national team emerged victorious from Group B after beating the United Arab Emirates 5-0 today. Earlier this week, they beat Macau and Kazakhstan by the same scoreline.

India were second in Group C behind hosts Indonesia.

If Malaysia beats India in the quarter-finals, they will face China or Taiwan in the semi-finals.

Men's doubles players Aaron Tai/Kang Khai Xing survived a scare to secure a 5-0 victory for Malaysia over the United Arab Emirates in the mixed team event of the Asian Junior Championships.

Malaysia were already leading 4-0 in the final match of Group B and were confident of their overall victory and first place in the group when Aaron-Khai Xing took the field.

Both men were favorites to claim a perfect victory, but were left sweating by Dev Ayyapan-Dhiren Ayyapan before heading home with a narrow 24-22, 21-18 victory at GOR Among Rogo Yogyakarta yesterday.

The other two quarter-finals will see Indonesia take on Japan, while South Korea will face the United Arab Emirates.

National team manager Vincent Chin is optimistic about his team's chances in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Asian Junior Championship.

“It's a good draw for us and I'm sure the players will give their all tomorrow. We want to qualify for the semi-finals,” Vincent said.

Malaysia lost 3-0 to Thailand in the quarter-finals last year. The last time the national team won a bronze medal in this competition was during the 2018 edition in Jakarta.
