13 Indian players qualify for Paris 2024 Paralympic Games

Badminton News: As many as 13 Indian para badminton players, including reigning champion Krishna Nagar, have secured qualification for the upcoming Paris Paralympics, as confirmed by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

Representing India, they will participate in nine different events during the badminton competition scheduled at the Paris Olympics from August 28 to September 8.

Nagar is aiming to defend the men's singles gold in the SH6 category that he won at the Tokyo 2021 Paralympics. Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj and Manoj Sarkar, who won silver and bronze respectively in Tokyo, will also be looking to win new successes in men's singles SL4 and SL3. . category.

A total of 120 badminton athletes, including 60 men and 60 women from 31 national Paralympic committees, qualified for the Paris Paralympic Games. They will compete in 16 events, including 12 singles events and four doubles events, as announced by the BWF.

The Paris Paralympic Games will introduce three new numbers: women's singles lower position 3 (WS SL3), women's singles lower position 6 (WS SH6) and mixed doubles small size 6 (XD SH6).

Additionally, athletes from Austria, Belgium, Chile, Italy, New Zealand, Nigeria and the United States will mark their Paralympic badminton debut.

The badminton competition is scheduled from August 29 to September 2 at the Arène de la Porte de La Chapelle.
