Budapest [Hungary]June 9 (ANI): Indian wrestler Ritika Hooda won a silver medal in the women's 76kg category at the Bulyak Imre and Varga Janos Memorial Wrestling Championships 2024 in Budapest, Hungary.

With fewer than six participants in the women's 76 kg category, the Nordic system was followed. In this system, competing wrestlers compete against each other in a round-robin format.

Ritika, the U-23 world champion, has won three of her four matches. She lost to World Championship bronze medalist Tatiana Renteria of Colombia. The Colombian wrestler then won the gold medal in Budapest. Meanwhile, Genesis Risco Valdez of Ecuador settled for the bronze medal.

Ritika's success marked India's fourth medal in the wrestling ranking series in Budapest. Earlier, Aman Sehrawat won a silver medal in the men's 57kg freestyle category, while Antim Panghal and Anshu Malik won silver in the women's 53kg and 57kg categories respectively.
