Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong withdraw from 2024 Indian Open

Badminton News: World number one mixed doubles pair Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong have reportedly withdrawn from the prestigious India Open 2024 tournament next week.

The two, who were eliminated from the quarter-finals of the recently concluded Malaysia Open 2024, posted on their official Weibo account their decision to withdraw from the upcoming tournament in New Delhi.

According to reports, the Chinese pair have withdrawn from the 2024 Indian Open due to health concerns. Ahead of the Olympics, the Chinese duo is this time prioritizing their health over their participation in the Indian Open.

Zheng and Huang showed great promise at the Malaysia Open 2024. However, their journey was halted by the passionate duo Kim Won Ho/Jeong Na Eun from South Korea. Zheng and Huang are three-time reigning Malaysian Open champions. However, Korea's challenge this time proved too difficult for them.

Missing the Indian Open means the Chinese duo will most likely next appear at the Indonesia Masters Super 500 which is scheduled to begin on January 23.

Apart from Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong, there is currently no official confirmation regarding the withdrawal of other badminton players from the India Open.
