Bought by Indian giant Mahindra, Peugeot Motocycles will now sell motorbikes in addition to its usual scooters.

This announcement was made officially by Peugeot Motocycles several weeks ago. The brand, which is now in the hands of the Indian company Mahindra, intends to expand its activities by offering its customers motorbikes in addition to the usual scooters. Therefore, Peugeot Motocycles will distribute the BSA brand in its network which is also owned by giant Mahindra. For now, only one model is in the catalogue: the Gold Star 650. In autumn 2016, Mahindra purchased BSA with the aim of relaunching the brand and production near Birmingham's historic Small Heath site. An operation that finally bore fruit at the end of 2021, with its overall exposure New Gold Star 650. Ashish Joshi, Director of BSA, is very excited about this collaboration: “This is an exciting next step for us, to bring BSA motorbikes, a great British brand, to the rest of the world. Peugeot Motocycles shares with us a long history of passion for two-wheelers and its extensive network in Europe provides the perfect pathway to bring the new BSA Gold Star into the hands of customers.”

Waiting for Java?

Equipped with a 652 cc single cylinder engine that produces 45 hp of power and 55 Nm of torque, the Gold Star immediately aroused interest on the European continent. If Mahindra already has BSA, another brand could return to our roads with Jawa. Therefore, BSA, Peugeot and Jawa are the three brands that will soon be found in the network that Peugeot has been developing for a long time. Coming out of hibernation should be followed with caution given its growing popularity motorbikes made in India and China. Having achieved success in producing their machines with all the success they have experienced in the Indian region, we can and should expect good pretensions from these three brands.
