Korean electronics giant Samsung plans to start producing laptops at its Noida factory in India later this year, a senior company official said on Monday.
Citing India as its key manufacturing hub, TM Roh, President of Samsung Electronics and Head of Mobile eXperience (MX) Business, told reporters here that preparations for laptop production in India are underway.
“We will start producing laptops at the Noida plant this year. “Preparations are already underway,” said the official, who is on a visit to India.
Roh said India is an important manufacturing base for the company and receives support from the state and central governments at various levels.
The company will continue to work with the government to strengthen manufacturing in India, he added.
The company recently launched its flagship Galaxy S24 series smartphone with a focus on the artificial intelligence capability in the device.
Samsung has announced that it will also manufacture the Galaxy S24 at its Noida factory.
“Noida is a very important manufacturing location for Samsung. It is the second largest base for Samsung. “There may be some changes at the factory to optimize it in line with global demand, but what remains unchanged is the fact that it is an important base for us,” Roh said.
The Noida plant has started manufacturing feature phones, smartphones, wearables and tablets and now the company will start producing laptops this year.
