18-yard kick: India's special preparations against South African attackers

Ahead of the first IND vs SA Test at Centurion, the Indian batsmen took part in a special drill where they had to face shots from 18 yards.

This is the final frontier and the fact that the Indian cricket team has not won a Test series in 31 years will surely be remembered by Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and especially head coach Rahul Dravid. However, before the Indian team plans to win the Freedom Trophy, they need to negotiate on the pace and bounce of the bid. Fighting against Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi will be key in the IND vs SA Test series. So before the first Test at the Centurion between South Africa and India, the most important thing is to prepare well for this hard blow.

With new faces in the Test squad after what the Indian team showed last time, many were not used to the pace and bounce of the South African surface. Special arrangements are therefore put in place.

IND vs SA: Special drills at 18 yards

To help the Indian batsmen in this regard, the support staff prepared a special plan during India's practice session at Centurion on Sunday. They increased the bowling area to 18 yards instead of the usual 22 yards. The bowling specialists, including Raghu, tried to keep the batsmen in balance. The extra pace generated by the shorter wickets has helped Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma practice in different ways.

It is still unclear whether Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi will be available for the first IND vs SA Test. But the Indian cricket team will be ready if that happens. Even without two of their key players, South Africa could be a tough team to beat in their own backyard.

Virat Kohli struggled with his first few deliveries. However, he took a moment to calm down before returning to his doom. After that, he looked happy with his shot.
