NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate has issued fresh summons to Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal will be questioned on January 3 in a money laundering probe related to excise policies.
This is the third notice issued to Kejriwal, who is also the national convenor Aam Aadmi Party (PAA). He previously refused to appear before the federal agency in two previous summons dated November 2 and December 21.
After failing to appear before the ER at the initial summons on November 2, Kejriwal wrote a letter to the deputy director of the ER saying, “The summons was unclear regarding the capacity in which I was summoned, namely as a witness or suspect in the above case. case. “

The Delhi CM was summoned again on December 18 but chose not to attend, indicating that the summons was aimed at creating sensational news in the 2024 parliamentary elections. Currently taking a Vipassana meditation course, Kejriwal said: “The timing of your summons leaves a lot to be desired and strengthens my belief that the summons sent to me were not based on objective or rational criteria but were solely for propaganda purposes and aimed at creating sensational news in the last months of the long-awaited legislative elections in the country.
Kejriwal was also summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in April that year in connection with this case. However, he was not named as an accused in the first information report (FIR) filed by the CBI in August last year. In February 2023, Kejriwal's deputy, Manish Sisodia, was arrested by the CBI for alleged irregularities in the formulation and implementation of Delhi's new excise policy, which was later withdrawn due to allegations of cheating on the part of the opposition.
