Amit Shah criticized opposition to a “boycott” of the criminal law debate

CHANDIGARH: Union Home Minister Amit Shah punished opposition party Friday to “boycott” parliamentary discussion on three criminal justice laws. “Instead of discussing this important law, they are busy parroting the constitutional position,” Shah said.
He was speaking at the inauguration and foundation laying ceremony held at Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology (CCET).

Amit Shah: “The process of a criminal case will not take more than three years after the implementation of the criminal law.

“As a legislator, I brought the bill to the DPR. I would like the opposition to convey their views and suggestions regarding the bill. But unfortunately, they decided to do it boycott discussion by making excuses,” said Shah.
The centre, when formulating the three criminal justice bills, took into account the views and suggestions of various groups, including the police, lawyers, legal experts and even specialist publishers of legal books. The bill was also discussed in the standing committee on home affairs, which suggested major changes, Shah said.

“But while major changes to the country's criminal justice system are being debated in Parliament, opposition members are busy impersonating the Vice President outside the House. There can be no act more condemnable than this,” Shah added.

The Union Home Minister referred to what was happening outside Parliament at that time, with Trinamool Congress leader Kalyan Banerjee imitated Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on the steps of Parliament during the opposition party's protest.

Attacking Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for recording the incident, Shah said, “A senior leader of an old party like Congress made a video of this. »
“Many governments have come and gone, but the dignity of all constitutional offices has always been maintained…” Shah said.
