With ODI series available online, KL Rahul and co want bragging rights after South Africa’s ODI humiliation in 2021/22
The Indian cricket team is facing a big challenge in the upcoming third IND vs SA ODI. Faced with a drawn series, the Men in Blue want to avenge the brutal and humiliating series defeat suffered in 2021-2022. With something to play for, India will have to challenge the hosts.
India took a 1-0 lead in the ODI series by taking 8 wickets in the first ODI. But Proteas came back strong and equalized in the 2nd ODI. Now that the series is on the line, India must win the match to avoid losing the ODI series in South Africa.
India’s 3-0 whitewash in the 2021-22 ODI series is still fresh in the minds of Indian fans. Two years ago, the Proteas completely annihilated the Men in Blue and closed the series 3-0. On the other hand, India humiliated the hosts in the 2017/2018 season and won a thumping 5-1 victory.
India’s performance in South Africa against the Proteas was somewhat mixed. They lost to the hosts in 2013, then in 2011 and 2006-07.
With the hosts having a lot to be proud of, especially in this series, a lot of hopes will rest on KL Rahul and his young team to sort things out.
As the T20I series ends in a draw (1-1), the Men in Blue will fight desperately for the series. Apart from this, the Indian cricket team will face the Proteas at full speed in 2 test matches and important WTC points will be up for grabs.
