IPL 2024 auction: Former Indian star predicts ‘decent day’ for Afghan star with no ‘bias’

Aakash Chopra predicts Afghanistan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai will have a good day at Tuesday’s IPL 2024 auction

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has backed Afghanistan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai to have a good day at the IPL 2024 auction on Tuesday. A total of 333 players will be auctioned in the auction scheduled in Dubai. Chopra felt that the all-rounder would have had fun “if the selection of players did not reflect the coaching staff’s bias towards ‘his nationality’.”

Azmatullah Omarzai took the world by storm in the 2023 World Cup, scoring over 350 runs and taking 7 wickets in 9 matches. The 23-year-old was his country’s second top scorer in the tournament and fifth top scorer, ahead of Noor Ahmed and Fazalhaq Farooqi.

His T20 record isn’t too bad either. In 62 matches played, he has batted at a strike rate of 129.51 and has 59 wickets.
