PV Sindhu learned from Indian badminton legend Prakash Padukone

Badminton News: Eyeing a third Olympic medal, Indian ace PV Sindhu will now shift her base from Hyderabad to Bengaluru to train under the legendary Prakash Padukone ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

PV Sindhu spent a week under Padukone in September and before the Asian Games, she had indicated that she would train under Padukone.

The 28-year-old, who was currently dealing with a left knee injury, finally revealed it via a social media post.

“For those who are wondering and constantly asking me, the cat is finally out of the bag!!,” he wrote on ‘X’, formerly Twitter.

“Prakash Sir took on the role of mentor in my training. I started training with him at the end of August and since then things have gotten complicated,” the former world champion wrote.

“He was more than a mentor, he was my guide, my teacher and above all a true friend. I wholeheartedly believe he has the magic to get the best out of my game,” he said.

“I am very grateful that he contacted me with just one call when I was in Japan, and we built this relationship very well. Dear Sir, I AM SO EXCITED!! I can’t wait to train with you! Let’s get to work,” Sindhu wrote. had won a silver medal at the Rio Olympics under the tutelage of head coach Pullela Gopichand.

In February, Sindhu parted ways with Korean coach Park Tae-Sang, who helped her win a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics.

The Hyderabad shuttler worked with SAI coach Vidhi Chaudhary for some time before joining Malaysia’s former All-England Commonwealth Games champion Muhammad Hafiz Hashim as a roving coach.

Recovering from her left knee injury, PV Sindhu chose to apply for Protected Ranking No.1. 10 which will be locked in the BWF rankings until its recovery.

She injured her left knee and withdrew during her second round women’s singles match against Thailand’s Supanida Katethong at the French Open on October 26.
