“Moping in Style: A Tribute to Adam Green” was released today
“Moping in Style: A Tribute to Adam Green” was announced by Capitane Records. The double album pays tribute to Adam Green, a key figure in independent rock over the past two decades. Featuring contributions from Regina Spektor, Father John Misty, Devendra Banhart, The Libertines, Jenny Lewis, Sean Ono Lennon, Frankie Cosmos, The Lemonheads and other artists, the album brings together selected songs from Adam Green’s extensive solo discography, from “Garfield” (2002) to his latest album “That Fucking Feeling”.
Adam Green, known for his role in the duo The Moldy Peaches and his artistic uniqueness, has had a significant influence on the independent music scene, especially during the evolution of the indie movement since the 80s. His lyrics with kaleidoscopic landscapes and lyrical imagination have captivated fans, subtly combining tenderness and humor, kitsch and high art, rock’n’roll and ballads.
The project, consisting of twenty-six performances, brings together musicians influenced by Green’s unique style. French artists, such as Herman Dune and Vincent Delerm, also contributed to this tribute. Vincent Delerm, a quiet admirer of Adam Green’s work, revisits the classic “Friends of Mine” with mischief and inspiration, offering a French version similar to Gainsbourg.
