Indian journalist in US secures patent for virtual newsroom system

Lalit Jha, the chief correspondent of news agency Press Trust of India (PTI) in the US, and Om Jha, a computer science student from Georgia Tech, have secured a patent to develop a virtual newsroom system for journalists and newsrooms.

The 2023 Cision report highlights the top concerns of journalists and newsrooms. About 58 percent of journalists value content and news accuracy as their top concern. Another 27 percent focus on maintaining credibility and combating fake news. This patent addresses these concerns by providing a virtual newsroom system that streamlines content transactions within a unified platform and provides journalists and organizations a straightforward solution to seamlessly buy and sell content in an integrated environment, a statement said.

The virtual newsroom system uses innovative AI and machine learning to verify the authenticity of news. It maintains a database of media, journalists and topics.

As the media landscape experiences a technological renaissance, 5WH, powered by a virtual newsroom patent, promises to bring about a revolution in journalism by connecting journalists and editors through technology and ensuring high-quality content seamlessly reaches a global audience.
