JAKARTA – The Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia) officially disbanded the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games Chefs de Mission (CoM) team at the Auditorium of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (KemenPUPR), Jakarta, Friday (20 /10/2023).
The dissolution was marked by the symbolic handing over of the report from the Hangzhou Asian Games by CdM Basuki Hadimuljono to the President of the Indonesian NOC Raja Sapta Oktohari. “Saying Alhamdulillahirabbil’alamin, today I officially declare that the Hangzhou 2023 CdM team has been disbanded. Thank you for the hard work of the CdM team led directly by PUPR Minister and PODSI President Basuki Hadimuljono.” Wabillahi taufik wal hidayah Wassalamualaikum Wr Wb,” said Okto, Raja Sapta’s close nickname.
Okto appreciated the performance of the CdM team under the leadership of Basuki who was willing to work hard to protect and serve the athletes of the Indonesian team. This includes making sure athletes, coaches and officials feel comfortable so they can focus on the game.
“I, the president of the Indonesian Olympic Committee, rated Pak Basuki’s report card as CdM, if it was 1 to 10, he got a score of 10. He and the team ensured that all elements were served, from the beginning, in Hangzhou. , until the end, everyone was happy. “Because when you are happy, the results can be maximum,” said Okto.
He said the Indonesian team’s achievements in Hangzhou were the best in Asian Games held outside Indonesia. In terms of gold medal, it is the best since New Delhi 1982. Meanwhile, in terms of ranking, it is the best since 2022 Busan.
However, Okto said that there was an evaluation of the results of the Asian Games that should be taken into account for the Paris Olympics in 2024. Moreover, there is less than a year left.
“Indonesia has the fourth largest population in the world, but our sporting achievements are still not that great. China and the United States are still competing to show their sporting expertise, India is starting to gain strength. “Indonesia still hasn’t done it, of course, it’s our duty,” said Okto, who also plans to form a working group that will accompany the Indonesian team to the Paris Olympics, starting from qualification process.
Meanwhile, Basuki as CdM Asian Games expressed his gratitude for the trust of the Indonesian NOC which made him CdM Asian Games Hangzhou.
“Sports was a new community for me and I was exposed to a diverse community. “Thank you for this opportunity which will allow me to venture into sports coaching in the future,” said Basuki.
As MenPUPR, Basuki also plans to build the best sports facilities to meet the training needs of athletes who are expected to support the improvement of Indonesia’s sports achievements. At least, Basuki added, four sports will benefit from renovations at training venues.
“First of all, swimming, we built (a swimming pool) at UNNES, Semarang. We want to add to UNJ. There is a skateboarding area in Taman Mini and we have studied it. Hockey is at GBK, but training rental is expensive and they have an independent field in Depok. We will see that too. “Apart from that, there is also BMX in Pulomas and Banyuwangi, they already exist, but we still need of 8M,” Basuki said.
On this occasion, the NOC and the CdM also expressed their gratitude to the traditional dragon boat (TBR) athletes. TBR, which is under the auspices of PB PODSI, managed to give 1 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze in the Asian Games. However, they did not receive this appreciation because the competition venue is located in Wenzhou, 4 hours away from Hangzhou.
For information, all medal-winning athletes at the Hangzhou Asian Games also received additional recognition from the NOC and the CdM. In addition, the PUPR Ministry will also build houses for them on land owned by each athlete. ***
