A train accident left at least four people dead and several others injured this Thursday in India, local media reported.

“Four victims have been confirmed and rescue operations are underway. Twenty-one coaches derailed,” Tarun Prakash, managing director of East Central Railway, told the Times of India newspaper.

News agency ANI also reported four people were killed. Media reported that several injured people were taken to hospital, without specifying the number.

The train came from the capital New Delhi and was headed to Kamakhya Junction, in the northeastern state of Assam.

“I deeply condole with this irreparable loss,” Indian Railways Minister Ashwini Vaisjnaw said, without providing an official report.
