The wacky indie role-playing game Knuckle Sandwich will finally be released in November

We’ve previously described Knuckle Sandwich as “like Earthbound for adults.”

A few years after we saw it debut and win several awards at indie events, the surreal RPG Knuckle Sandwich will be released next month: November 23, 2023. This game has already attracted a lot of attention, pay attention when Undertale is released. it’s still fresh because it offers something similar, but very different.

“Guide a young man through his first day in Bright City, a bustling paradise island that holds a terrible secret. Find a new job, make new friends, and try to solve a mystery that revolves around a wacky gang and a fanatical cult,” reads the official description.

The trick is that in addition to the offbeat humor, Knuckle Sandwich’s turn-based combat takes place in mini-games reminiscent of the WarioWare series. Each enemy and playable character is paired with a variety of mini-games to win, “including rhythm games, shooting games, memory puzzles, and speed tests.”

Knuckle Sandwich is the product of solo developer Andy Brophy – which explains why it took so long to make, as making your own game isn’t simple, fast or easy. It was partially funded in 2018, via Kickstarter, but it was only after years of teasers and development that it caught our attention. Like a really tricky punch, or a cyclops running a puppy shop.

You can find Knuckle Sandwich on Itch and Steam. It will be released on November 23, 2023. It also has a website where the background is the default color of the Windows 98 desktop. Awesome, I know.
