Consul General of India in Medan Shubham Singh said that this special opportunity aims to bring together alumni and scholars who have studied in various institutions in India.

The activity brought together around sixty distinguished guests. Additionally, this event is a celebration of the good relations between India and Indonesia, particularly those that have developed through the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) and Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) programs. .

“Today’s event welcomes eminent personalities, including chancellors and academics from several universities in Medan, as well as members of the media,” Shubham said on Friday (15/9/2023).

Shubham also made insightful remarks, highlighting the ITEC and ICCR programs.

He highlighted the importance of vocational training, which is the main objective of ITEC, and shared good news about an upcoming program in Aceh, in which ITEC trainers will work closely with officials of the Aceh government.

“The ITEC program is open to anyone looking to build capacity, not limited to government officials,” he said.

Every year, the Indian government grants 100 training quotas under ITEC to Indonesia, which allows training in various Indian institutions.

“Similarly, the ICCR is offering 20 academic scholarships, including the opportunity for 5 students from Sumatra to pursue studies ranging from bachelor’s to doctoral level in India, covering various fields except medicine,” he said. declared.
