Surabaya (beritajatim.com) – Finally, the Spanish coach who was to replace Aji Santoso for Persebaya, Josep Gambau, landed in the city of Surabaya, Wednesday evening (13/9/2023) at Juanda International Airport.
According to photos posted on social media, Josep Gambau was accompanied by one of Surabaya’s player agents, Gabriel Budi. This Spanish coach said he was happy to finally be in the city of Surabaya.
According to Josep, Indonesia is not too foreign to him even though he has never been to Surabaya. Josep had heard of this country before, even when Josep was working in Australia, he had once visited Bali.
“Everything is fantastic, I love being here when I was working in Australia. I have visited Bali but only on vacation but this is my first time here for work,” Josep said.

Josep even said that he knew a lot about Persebaya because the 47-year-old coach admitted to following their matches. He even promised to work hard to improve the Bajol Ijo team.
“It’s the first time, I know a lot. “Because I follow their matches, I am very excited and I look forward to working at the club,” he added.
The arrival of the new coach to replace Aji Santoso was eagerly awaited by players and supporters, with the hand of Uston Nawawi, Persebaya is currently at the top of the ranking.

However, the arrival of Josep Gambau still does not confirm that he will join the Surabaya team, because so far the management of Persebaya Surabaya has not yet announced that Josep Gambau will train with the Bajol Ijo team .
It is known that after managing Adelaide United for three seasons, Gombau was appointed coach of the Australian national team starting in 2016. However, this did not last long. He returned to coach local Australian team, Western Sydney, in the 2017/2018 season.
After feeling quite adventurous on the Australian continent, he flew to India to coach Delhi Dynamos, who have now changed their name to Odisha FC. In just one season, he once again traveled to America to manage Queensboro FC. And in 2021-2023, he will return to India to coach Odisha FC. (Way/ian)
