President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) explains a number of efforts that can be made to overcome the increase in Earth’s temperature, which is expected to continue to rise over the next five years. Jokowi conveyed it to the leaders of the state G20 during the first session of the G20 summit in India.

The G20 India Summit which Jokowi attended was held at Bharat Mandapam, IECC, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India.

Jokowi said accelerating the low-carbon economic transition was one possible effort. He estimated that at present, the implementation of emission reduction is still very limited.

“Financial commitments from developed countries remain limited to rhetoric and paper, whether financing climate 100 billion USD per year as well as financing facilities loss And Shame,” he said.

Jokowi said that currently developing countries need help in green technology and investments to accelerate the reduction of emissions worldwide.

“We developing countries really want to accelerate emissions reductions, but we need support for technology transfer and green investments,” he said.

Additionally, Jokowi said funding to accelerate emissions reductions was also seen as important. According to him, cooperation between the government and the private sector must be continued because it is considered that it can constitute a big change in reducing emissions.

“Last year in Bali, Indonesia launched the G20 Bali Global Blended Finance Alliance, this Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) program needs to be extended and expanded,” he said.

For this reason, Jokowi said that global standards are needed, especially in terms of the consolidation of economic and commercial activities to prevent practices greenwashing.

“A global standard is needed, like a taxonomy, to prevent this practice greenwashing and the reform of the Multilateral Development Bank (MDB) must reflect the representation of its member countries,” he explained.

In this activity, Jokowi was accompanied by Coordinating Minister (Menko) of Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi and Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.
