Subang – Hundreds of gateball athletes from 18 provinces of Indonesia and several Indian athletes showed their action at the Sariater tourist attraction, Ciater District, Subang Regency, Wednesday (23/8/2023).

Gateball Athletes Action is one of the tournaments themed around the International Gateball Jamboree 2023. The objective itself is none other than to develop and find young athletes at the national and even international levels.

According to the organizer of the 2023 international gateball jamboree tournament, Metty Hendriatty, this event is also a form of preparation of athletes to face the upcoming 2024 National Sports Week in Aceh.

“This one is maybe for the anniversary of one of the gateball clubs, so we are organizing it in collaboration with a tourist attraction in Sariater Subang,” Metty said.

Metty said Indonesian gateball athletes had gone through the stages to become an exhibition sport after the PON in Papua some time ago.

“We are holding this event to support young athletes and the sport of gateball itself. We are introducing the sport of gateball so that it will be more popular with all groups,” he said.

Meanwhile, National PB Pergatsi Secretary General Puja Sumedi revealed that this gateball sporting event will include men’s or women’s doubles, mixed doubles, men’s or women’s triples, mixed triples and men’s and women’s singles.

“It is an honor to appreciate the development of gateball sport in Indonesia. Initially, the plan was on a large scale but we were hampered by lack of time. But I think it is a very good development of the gateball,” he said. .

On the other hand, PB Pergatsi argued that the choice of a tourist attraction for the 2023 international Gateball tournament would be nothing other than allowing the sport of gateball to become better known to the public and at the same time to promote the superiority of sport. tourism in Subang regency.

“So I hope the event will be more than that, but it is a good start for a national or international event because we are providing opportunities for young gateball athletes,” Puja said.

Meanwhile, the gateball tournament in the tourist area of ​​Sariater is scheduled to run for three consecutive days.
