Badminton News: Denmark’s men’s singles badminton player Anders Antonsen has managed to break into the world top 10 for the first time in two years in the latest rankings released this week by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

By winning the bronze medal at the prestigious BWF World Championships in 2023 in Copenhagen, Anders Antonsen climbed two levels to 10th in the world with 63,310 points.

The world number 1 throne is still occupied by another Danish player, Viktor Axelsen, even though he failed to defend the world title last week with 101,505 points, while the world 2nd position is occupied by a Indonesian player, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, with 85,051 points.

Last week’s Japanese world runner-up Kodai Naraoka moved up a tier to 3rd in the world with 81,315 points, while new Thai world champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn dropped a tier to 4th world rank with 79,778 points.

Chinese senior player Shi Yuqi moved up three places to 5th in the world with 72,524 points, while India’s World Championships bronze medalist HS Prannoy last week also moved up three places to rank 6th in the world with 72,437 points.

Rounding out the world top 10 is China’s All-England Champion Li Shi Feng, who failed miserably at the World Championships last week and had to drop one level to world No. 7 with 71,748 points. Former Singaporean world champion Loh Kean also fell. a level at 8th in the world with 69.262 points, and Jonatan Christie from Indonesia who fell four places significantly to 9th in the world with 69.221 points.
